"Heart, Strength and Dedication -
A Leader, a Competitor, a Gentleman"

Ms Cowboy
Karen Perinbam 2021-2022

Button up Old Boys Club, there's a new sheriff in town!

While it may seem odd to see a girl awarded Cowboy of the Year, it has been actually been a long time coming. Karen Perinbam's name has been on the nomination list for many, many years. Perhaps the reason she never received the award is because she lacked one of the of the attributes... we can't really call her a "gentleman", but that's really just a matter of semantics. As wife the of team manager, Doug Collins she is no stranger to the Cowboys having attended many games and maybe even more parties, she has been a stalwart supporter of the club and truly understands what it means to be a Cowboy.

Perhaps she swayed the vote by hosting the Cowboy of the Year Delegation Dinner this year by serving up a fabulous meal while the rest discussed the idea of finally doing her the honour she deserved. Under hushed debate using the code name "Maurice", an unanimous decision was reached, she (Maurice) being too busy doing the things that earned her the title; taking care of everyone else's needs and making sure everyone was enjoying themselves.

Finally recognizing her dedication, warm heart, strenght of character and quiet background leadership marks a new chapter for the Cowboy of the Year tradition. But it is not a surprise to anyone who knows what it means to be a Cowboy.
