Ron is one of the few to be named Cowboy of the Year for a second time, and it should come as no surprise. It was Ron who first got the Cowboys into their first league (Sea Island Rec League) back in 1979, and he also got the Cowboys started in the over 50 league (Richmond Old Timers Hockey Club) 30 years later. Ron continues to be a stalward leader for the team, always willing to help out where ever needed. His dedication to the team is unquestionable. Even when suffering health issues that took him out of the game, he continued to support the team, coming out to many games and continuing to fulfill his management duties. He is the kind of guy who gets things done. His no nonsense attitude and pragmatic sense of fairness has gained him the respect, not just of his teammates, but of every one he deals with. The Cowboys would not be the Cowboys is not for the likes of Ron Fontaine. By Doug Collins, "Cowboy of the Year 2013-14"
