1994-95 - A New Look

After more than 15 years of wearing the tradition gold hat on black, it was time to come up with a new look. At a season end party to celebrated 15 years (although, as pointed out in the account of the Ten Year party, it was actually 16 seasons) new Cowboy jerseys were unvieled, sporting a brand new logo.

The significance of this party, celebrating our longevity as a team, was the true recognition that we were all aging. Absent from the event was a long time fan and Cowboy icon, Bob Jenns (the Cowboy's legendary Proud Canadian). Bob was a Saskachewan farmer that would winter on the West Coast, often visting the Cowboys dressing room with his usual gift of a cold bottle of Royal Reserve. Tribute was paid to him along with another iconic, living Cowboy and founder, Ron May.

The new jerseys did not include the #7 because on that night it was to be officially retired to follow Ron's retirement some years earlier due to a reoccurring shoulder injury. (The number 7 would later be brought out of retirement on a Cowboy II jersey when his son, Kyle joined the team.)

The #10 jersey, formerly worn by Ron's twin brother Randy, could not be retired because his son Derek was currently wearing it. Derek May and his friend Mike Molema were now full fledged Cowboys, marking a second generation of players. (see the video: Generation II)
